The festival’s 25th anniversary edition was announced for Sunday 13 June 2010 in Andrews Park, Norman, running from noon to 9 pm. The archived page, titled “Groovefest 25”, set out the plan for the day.

The day’s programme

The afternoon opened with a tie-dye session, with attendees asked to bring a light-coloured shirt for dyeing. The performance schedule began at 3 pm and followed through to the evening with seven acts, each playing for an hour: the Ivan Pena Trio, Penny Hill, a pairing of Executioners and Prarie Folk Circus, Proprietors of the Earth, Pidgin and Panda Resistance.

Behind the scenes

The organisers thanked the many local bands that applied and noted that there was no shortage of talent, so they encouraged unsuccessful groups to try again. Applications for the Fall 2010 edition were due to open in June. They also planned a series of summer fundraiser shows to pay for the autumn event.

Context

This was one of the years in which Groovefest was still held in both spring and autumn, a pattern that later changed to a single October date. Read more in the history page, or return to the overview.
