This short page records the spring 2009 edition of the festival. It was hosted by the University of Oklahoma chapter of Amnesty International on Sunday, 26 April 2009, and ran from 2 pm to 9 pm at Andrews Park in Norman, Oklahoma.
What the archive says
The original notice was posted ahead of the event and asked visitors to check back for updates. It promised that a final list of bands and vendors would be added as the date drew closer. The list itself does not appear in the archive.
The festival in 2009
By this time Groovefest had been running for more than two decades. It was still organised by the campus Amnesty group and was still free to attend. As in other years, the programme combined local bands, vendor stalls and short talks on human rights. The festival was held in both spring and autumn in those years.
Where it fits
The edition falls between the earlier decades covered in the history page and the next year’s Groovefest 25. For a general introduction, see about Groovefest or the overview.
How to read an event notice
Early event notices like this one are short by design. They fix the date, time and place so that people can plan, and they promise fuller information later. When the follow-up listing is missing from an archive, it is wise to treat the date and venue as the only confirmed details.
In this case the archive shows only the hosting group, the date, the hours and the park, which is enough to place the event in its wider timeline.
